INDUSTRIAL SABOTAGE AND ESPIONAGE

The purpose of investigation is to offer industry management the means by which they protect their internal and external security. The purpose of investigation of industrial espionage and sabotage is to offer to management some explanation of how, when, and by whom their internal or external security was breached or otherwise compromised. Your goal as an investigator, therefore, is to determine whether the incident under investigation was in fact sabotage or espionage against your client, and if so, who was responsible for it.

You must remember that you are investigating an incident, not trying to uncover a conspiracy. Only when the evidence you have submitted in your reports justifies it, will the conclusion be drawn that espionage or sabotage is involved. The purpose of this is to help you learn what evidence indicates espionage or sabotage, and how to obtain that evidence.
